the world of flower and vibrational essences

Finding a way to start: Creativity and New Projects. May 23, 2011

It is both relevant and important to have the correct attitude toward something and, the correct energy involved with it, from the outset.

The end result of any undertaking, be it creativity, project or task is intimately affected by the manner in which you choose to begin, your attitude from the outset and, consequently, by the energy with which you approach said project or task every time that you work on or with it.

SO, this is a primary reason to take your time to fully contemplate and understand your own desires and needs, and also, your own capabilities and restrictions, before beginning a work.

A work well begun flows with complete ease and grace and, if care is taken to at all times approach the work with a positive attitude of clarity, this will carry the original intent through to the end producing fine and beautiful results.

The things you choose to do, and equally the things which you have to do, need not be a long line of chores but rather, with the correct starting point and attitude, anything you do can become effortless and pleasurable. It all depends on your attitude (read: outlook/energy/perceptual mode).

Key vibrational essences for creativity and starting a project well would be:

Magnolia bud, Coral aloe, Yellow trumpetbush, ’Clear my mind’(optunia microdasys) , Duckpool Beach (wanderer’s essence)

Key vibrational essences for a creative and positive outlook would be:

Crack willow, Stone pine, Pink campion, ‘Finding your feet’, ‘Transcendence’(transcendence), Crooklets Beach (artists essence)

Flower Essences and finding Harmony with Nature March 30, 2011

Flower essences, or vibrational essences, or flower remedies contain the energy frequencies of flowers, trees  and  other elements of the natural world. They provide a delightfully gentle yet profoundly efficient way of  attuning to the healing and transformative powers of the natural world.

Popularised by the ingenious Dr.Bach in the 1930’s with his ‘Bach Flower Remedies’ there are now many varieties of essences, not only made with flowers, but also with tree, crystal, river, cactus, landscape and other energies. But it’s nothing new. Our ancient ancestors worked directly with the spirits of nature and the elements  for healing, for magic and for guidance. I feel that at this time when so many are struggling with both personally, and with the changes going on globally, returning to these simple yet deeply transformative methods can provide peace and understanding in so many ways.

Ivy for transformation, Beech for grace, Primrose for playfulness, Campion for self-acceptance: I make most of the essences working within the local landscapes. A valuable facet of this is the way in which the essences help attune us to the land upon and within which we live. By working with local plants we begin to re-balance ourselves not just spiritually but right through to the physical level as-well. When we do this, amazing things happen: We begin to notice things around us more, to understand our own place, to realise our sense of ‘fit’. It is through this that we can learn to truly honour  both ourselves and those around us. Once we find balance within, we can then begin to craft meaningful and lasting connections within the community, first locally then globally.

So what starts with ‘the small acorn’ of finding an essence to help heal something personal blossoms into ‘the vast spreading tree’ of a new way of being and connecting with our whole surroundings, for our whole life. There are so many lessons in nature, every time I walk I learn something new and wonderful about life, the teachers of the natural world are not to be overlooked.

When you use flower essences regularly either as drops on your body or as a spray mist around you, their subtle vibrational frequency is absorbed into every layer of your being, thus changing you on a fundamental level. I feel that they are providing us now with a valuable tool that can be used by anyone to attune to innermost self; to access the healing powers of plants on a conscious level; leading to a greater sense of awareness, transformation and  harmony with the natural world.

White Chestnut January 13, 2011

Althought this experience and the essence which i was then inspired to make happened in early Spring, I felt it appropriate to post this now since upon reading it, it gave me a glimpse of the ‘quickening’ energy gradually rising now within the earth as we approach Imbolc and the time when the earth begins to awaken. There are already shoots of daffodil and snowdrop and leaves on the bramble in my backgarden. Though the rains pour and the winds howl , Spring is still but a murmer in my heart.

Encounter with the White Chestnut Tree (aesculus hippocastanum)

“As I enter your grove I am awed.  This tree stands so tall, so wide, so proud, so vibrant. It is the largest of its kind that I have ever seen. What strikes me most is the richness: New leaves burst forth out of every available surface, not just the branch tips, but all over the tree, the trunk and the ground below bright green ‘hands’ of leaves fluff out. And in the great hall beneath her canopy everything is bathed a surreal green velour. Eyes moving quickly, mesmerised, over the cracked bark and twisty limbs I utter my prayers, barely conscious of my own words as the energy of the mighty tree fills my being. Serenity.”

” Intuition “

The Essence – This tree takes our awareness beyond mind, beyond thought: A blank canvass. Only from this place of true stillness can we perceive the universe as it truly is; perceiving not with one or two of the senses at a time but with the whole being, directly. The energy of the white chestnut feels a bit like floating on a large body of water; so large that the perspective of oneself is unequivocally altered. An essential tree essence for learning to become aware of the silence underlying all form; for stilling the raging torrents of thoughts and worries; for realising and contemplating the nature of inner peace. These attributes also make white chestnut essence an important essence for those who are seeking to tune or broaden their perception, for only from a point of inner stillness can we ever hope to perceive clearly beyond the veil.

With Ravensara oil – This beautifully scented oil adds a sharpness and a focus to the overall quality. Bringing us an essence which can be used as a valuable tool for enhancing one’s intuitive powers as well as bringing a feeling of freshness and ‘awakeness’.

Self-awareness, transformation and harmony. July 2, 2010

Below are some ideas about the individual life experience, reflected in the collective experience which appear over and over again in my work with flower esences, with the spirits of nature and with people.

Freedom. We say we want to be free. But how free are we? Obviously there are things which we cannot so easily change; like bills to pay and unfair taxation, rules about where we can walk and where we can gather to celebrate. But we are also ruled by our own attitudes, our preconceptions, our judgments, our fears, our hopes, our desires and our dreams. The choices we make each day all too often depend on these things rather than being based purely on gut instinct, intuition and spontaneity. Imagine how different each day would be if more of our choices, words and deeds came from simply holding an attitude of love in our hearts. Sounds wishy-washy? Well, it’s not. What can possibly be lost by being more open to eachother? A loss of unneccesary mental judgements, emotional insecurities and psychological barriers doesn’t seem like such a bad thing.

Seeking harmony. Our ability to shine; to be who we truly are, and to truly experience the richness of life, is  limited by these blocks, doubts and fears. These are the veils which keep us from our true selves and inhibit our self-awareness, keeping us disconnected from Source and from eachother. These attitudes and traits are not fixed, but rather, things we have picked up along the way in our journey through life, often as natural, and very necessary at the time, defense mechanisms or ways to survive difficult or painful situations.

Transformation. Now have a look at how much of this baggage you really need in this present time right now, and how much of it you really want to carry forward into your future. When you start to realise, when you start to let go, thats when you get to see who you really are. This is a beautiful thing: To awaken to the journey which we are all on, and to realise the uniqueness of one’s own journey, to find ways to honor that, and to take back the power over one’s own life.

Evolution. Have you ever thought about what you really wanted? Free from ought and should, but and what if? Just for you. . . Who are you really? How would you most like to be? What aspect of yourself would you most like to express? Sounding selfish? Not at all. We must find harmony within ourselves if we are to be of any use at all to one-another. How much of helping others is just a mask for hiding away from oneself? Find harmony and self-acceptance within you own soul and your light will shine brightly for all those whom you come into contact with. Forever. For the light of source will be shining through you.

Beech Essence for Self-Awareness May 21, 2010

Transformation: As I was walking through a local wood yesterday afternoon (just on the Devon – Cornwall border)  the canopy of luminescent green beech leaves overhead struck such a chord within me. I noticed how the mood of the moment was affected by this “beech ceiling” most and more than anything else. And not only for myself drifting through this magical realm, but of the dappled light cast through it’s leaves upon the bluebells covering the floor; how the canopy held in the scents within the warm air; of ramsoms and bluebells and the sweet aroma of pine wafting down from the slopes above: How this dappled shade allowed a gentle breeze yet sheltered the woodland below from either strong wind or rain, and how the dappled light encouraged certain plant growth: The ‘prehistoric’ ferns just uncurling now always catch my attention at this time, appearing to me so much like alien heads with their red and ochre hues.  .  .  .  .  .  .  .  .  .  .  .  .

Healing: So to the beech tree we shall now return.  .  .  .  I have spent many hours of my life working with her and think of her now as an old friend and guardian. “Fagus sylavtica” for those of you who speak latin! “Mother of the Woods” is too one of her names: I can see why, her graceful limbs cast out so elegantly providing sanctuary for so many.

“Trees are able to assist us with healing and transformation, if we would take the time to listen”

“Vibrational Essences are another way of tuning into the plants themselves”

The energy of the beech tree has the special capacity of ‘holding the space’, the one who can hold you safe and secure so that you can learn and grow, or dare to push your own boundaries a little further. A wise teacher indeed is this tree. Although not a true native it has been here so long and, indeed, seems to ‘fit’ so well that it could almost be considered one. “Self-awareness” is, if you think about it, an important  part of any endeavor and is something that we all need develop and carefully nurture. Working with the beech, among other tree energies, fosters this awareness, and assists one in creating a safe space for  healing and personal transformation alike. Working with a tree directly cannot be more beautiful. Although it is my opinion that regular deep contact is needed for any lasting changes, be it within healing or self-awareness, to be experienced. This is why using vibrational essences  (or flower essences as they are also known) is so key. An essence of the tree or plant can be made and kept with you to be used daily to ‘tune in’ to the tree energy itself. Try this for a week and the go back to visit the tree and experience how much clearer to contact can be.

A summary of the qualities of beech tree essence

1. Grace – an appreciation of both oneself and one’s place in things; a delicate touch in all things; treat the world lightly and it will treat you lightly in return!

2.Wisdom – finding and going deeper into one’s own innate wisdom, tuning into collective wisdom stored within us, learning the correct manner to learn and access wisdom form the world around you, be it from people, trees, or a book!

3.New horizons – seeing things clearly, new outlooks, being open to new experiences, very much like the energy of early summer.     - also the energy of water, in being flexible and fluid in order to move on, change yourself and change your ways to enter into new relationships and new experiences.

Working and playing with trees is a wonderful way to learn about the natural world can result in ‘out of this world’ experiences. It is my hope that this article will inspire you to go out and do the same. Beltane May 1, 2010

Blessings for Beltane.

Beltane falls on the first of May each year and is also known as Mayday. Vibrational essences and trees/flowers for this time of the year include Hawthorne, oak, beech, crab apple, forget-me-not and anemone. This list can obviously vary for each of us depending on where we live and what we are tuned into at the time.

Now is the time of year when everything grows upward most rapidly and days are growing longer here in Britain. Now is a time of expansion, of celebration and rekindling of community, of fertility, sexuality and creativity, of personal inspirations becoming manifest, and of growing and planting things. At this time of year more energy becomes available to us all.

What we choose to do with this is up to each individual. Whether you choose transformation, cultivation or awareness. What will you create with yours that will grow through the summer and solidify through the winter right through to the next year?

Blessings,

Daffodil Flower Essence March 16, 2010

Daffodil Essence. (narcissus pseudo narcissus)

Awen Vibrational Essences: Daffodil Essence  ‘New Perceptions’

They are everywhere in early springtime. Bursts of yellow exploding all over our hedgerows, verges, gardens and scattered over many a woodland floor. Always feels to me like it’s announcing news; or perhaps channelling light energy outwards to the whole of it’s surroundings. ‘Herald of Spring’ I call them. Although there are now over 50 varieties of Daffodil, Narcissus Pseudonarcissus is the common wild daffodil which grows here. It is perhaps best known in legend in the story of Narcissus, the vain youth, who became so besotted watching his own reflection in a pool that he fell into the water and drowned. In the spot where he died a flower grew; narcissus, the daffodil.

Daffodil’s qualities as a flower essence are far from ‘deathly’! Initially it has the effect of expanding perception, bringing a greater sense of purity and appreciation of beauty. This energy facilitates an opening up and revealing of the true self. In this we find several areas of application:

Daffodil essence is most effective for healing, in clearing blockages in the heart area and creating a stable base energy. (I have found that impeded energy flow in the heart charka is often related to an inability or unwillingness to perceive what’s really going on around you).

It teaches us how to absorb correctly what we most need, be it from our environment, from our food, or in the form of inspiration. The new information and nutrients taken in alike lead to improved energy flow as well as a deepening of self-awareness and improved  assimilation of new ideas.

Learning to know oneself beyond all doubt leads to a profound sense of wholeness and completion within, and leaves one able to feel truly comfortable within one’s surroundings. This sense of ‘fit’  can be most useful in relieving conditions related to the inability to relax and ‘just be oneself’, shyness and feelings of awkwardness or for those who can’t find their own voice or are afraid voice their opinions.

Finally we return to Daffodil flower essence’s quality of expanding perception: This appears to relax the entire  energy body and help us to perceive the bigger picture of our lives. This is useful because when we focus too much on any one thing, be it an object of desire of an object of dislike, we loose our power, our centre, and our ability to perceive what is really in front of us becomes distorted.

So my final impression of daffodil would be as the revealer; the opener, who trumpets to us light and illumination!

Snowdrop Flower Essence February 4, 2010

Snowdrop Essence for Awakenings

There are many varieties of snowdrop, however the wild one form which i make the Snowdrop flower essence is called Galanthus Nivalis.

Snowdrop is one of the flower essences for this time of year. They are usually the first flowers we see here in Cornwall toward the end of winter. Snowdrop is able to survive very low temperatures and even snow, hence the name. Because they flower around Imbolc, or Candlemas, another name is candlemas bells. Where I live they usually begin  flowering in mid  January. Are there snowdrops in your area?

Snowdrop is a wonderful flower essence for both healing and awareness. A delicate essence whose enduring, pervasive energy both opens up and lightens one’s perception.

Useful for – Snowdrop flower essence heightens sensitivity of awareness and subtle perceptions. It can be used for deepening our understanding of the underlying patterns in nature, existence and consciousness. Snowdrop also teaches us a gentler way of being, of doing what we need to do. Its gentle yet pervasive energy is a kind and reliable guide in many types of situation.

Action – Snowdrop is one of the flower essences for renewal, due to the actions of fortifying and settling the body’s energy it brings a sense of serenity and centre. The other noteworthy effect is the property of opening up one’s perception, so bringing a sense of lucidity, helpful is you feel that you want to see things with more clarity or find a new perspective or, as mentioned above, for those who wish to broaden their perception and learn to perceive nature in a deeper and more genuine way.

Honeysuckle Flower Essence November 14, 2009

Awen Essences Mexican Collection - Honeysuckle

Honeysuckle (lonicera periclymenum) Awen Essences Mexican Collection

    “Complete Presence”

Honeysuckle is suited to those who daydream, or cannot find fulfillment in the present.

Image: A small child is playing outside, on the earth. She is completely absorbed in her game, unaware of all else around her. Her imagined world is all there is.

‘What makes a given moment inspiring or alive is how you choose to live it: You are not a victim of your world. You are creating it every second.’

Honeysuckle is useful for those who daydream too much, or are held back by fond memories of the past, wishing things could be different, like they used to be, or simply that common sentiment of always wanting something other than what we has right here before us. Sometimes we can make changes for the better using this energy. But all too often it is these feelings which simply stop us from bothering to really appreciate what is around us right now, or taking a genuine interrest in things.

This essence enables us to fully engage our true selves in the moment, cutting through dulled & disillusioned existence: Revealing a way of being whereby we innovate and inspire whatever we choose to do with our lives, finding fulfillness in whatever is around us.

Correspondences: A feeling of softening is experienced; respiratory system is energised; brow chakra and sacral chakra activated.

I just wanted to tell you that you are loved. You are special. You are totally and completely unique, child of creation. Do not be afraid to follow your heart; walk your own path; speak your truth. Dance your soule’s dance, knowing that your ancestor’s danced their dance before you. And your kin all over the world dance it too.

Do you ever stop for a moment just to feel, just to look, just to simply be? In Peace.

Though you may often walk alone in this adventure, may you never feel lonely. May you be filled with inner strength. And may you always feel loved.
